Luckily, I ended up rescuing a 78 year old, frail woman, in a random event who ended up being a crafting powerhouse. I had some early game problems with injuries from raids as well as some gaps in skill strengths. I only built 3 pods and ended up leaving everyone else behind simply because I wanted to start a new game. I ended up being able to research and then build a complete ship within I think 4-5 years. I settled on a plot that was permanently summer so I could grow crops year round. The first was set to base builder difficultly. Tl dr: Do you typically build or own ship or travel to the completed ship randomly placed on the map?
